Expertisebureau HDG B.V. is a well-established survey and inspection company with a global reach and part of the HDG Survey Group. Since 1981, HDG has been a trusted partner to both the fruit industry and the insurance sector. In cooperation with network partners, HDG provides specialized worldwide services in handling transport and storage claims. We have offices in the Netherlands and Germany.

Due to the continued growth of our organization, a new vacancy has opened for an International Claim Manager within our Claims department.

What does the role involve?
You manage and review new and existing claims for our clients, international insurers of perishable cargo. You work together with an international team of surveyors. You enjoy international correspondence and communication. You are an analytical and critical team player. You are interested in becoming a specialist in fruit, insurance, and transport-related matters.

Primary tasks and responsibilities
Corresponding with clients, insured parties, insurance brokers, insurers, and other stakeholders. Instructing, guiding, and monitoring (international) surveyors. Preparing reports based on information from surveyors and your own research. Maintaining excellent relationships with stakeholders.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities
You hold at least an MBO level 4 or higher professional education (HBO) diploma. Your writing and typing skills are excellent. You have strong problem-solving abilities. You are able to communicate effectively with people at all levels, both internally and externally. You are accurate and have a hands-on mentality. You have a good command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written. An additional language, such as Spanish or German, is a plus.

What will you do?

As a (Junior) Quality Inspector, you’ll work daily with fresh fruit and vegetables from all over the world. You will be responsible for:

• Independently assessing the quality of fruit and vegetables

• Identifying and recording damages

• Preparing and reporting findings to our clients (importers and exporters)

• Advising customers on post-harvest issues

• Acting as a point of contact for everything related to fresh produce, transport, and storage

What do you bring?

We are looking for someone who is curious, values quality, and wants to grow within the fresh produce sector. You have:

• Minimum MBO-4 level (secondary vocational education) or equivalent

• Affinity with fruit and vegetables (experience in a similar role is a plus)

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

• A flexible attitude – no 9-to-5 mentality

• A positive, proactive mindset

• Good command of Dutch and English
